This example uses the experimental RTXWallThicknessShader, illustrating the capacity of DirectViz to take advantage of Ray Tracing for computing purposes. The color represents the thickness of the vizualized shape.
For each ray hitting the surface, a cone is sampled near the normal vector direction and additional rays are launched. Then, the minimal distance is retained and mapped to a colormap.
Thus, this shader can performs a fast and quite accurate computation of the thickness of a mechanical part.
