Additionally, the license can be restricted to a specific period of time or to specific use cases.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Your product license is protected by a license key. Each time the application is launched, it checks for a valid license key. If a valid license key is found, the application runs. Otherwise, you are requested to get a valid license key. The license key is stored in a Certificate License file.<\/p>\n<p>\nStarting with Open Inventor 10.11, the Thermo Scientific License Manager portal (TLM portal) has been introduced to allow you to manage your Thermo Scientific product licenses at the different steps of your contract life:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>To get your Certificate License file when buying a new license (<span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Activate<\/strong><\/span>)<\/li>\n<li>To update your Certificate License file for your licenses under maintenance when a new version of Open Inventor is released (<span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Upgrade<\/strong><\/span>)<\/li>\n<li>To update your Certificate License file when your time-limited licenses subscription has been renewed (<span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Reactivate<\/strong><\/span>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You will find below steps to follow to get or update your Certificate License file according to the type of license you purchased.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Node Locked licenses<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><a href=\"#NodeLockedActivation\">Activate<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#NodeLockedUpgrade\">Upgrade<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#NodeLockedReActivation\">Reactivate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Floating licenses<\/strong><\/span>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li><a href=\"#FloatingActivation\">Activate<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#FloatingUpgrade\">Upgrade<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"#FloatingReActivation\">Reactivate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr>\n<p><a name=\"NodeLockedActivation\"><\/a><span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Activate Node Locked Certificate Licenses<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In order to get your license certificate you will need:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Your <span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>activation codes<\/strong><\/span> : you should have received them in your delivery email. An activation code is a long string delimited by a pair of \u2014 BEGIN  TLM CODE \u2014 and \u2014 END TLM CODE \u2014 tags.<\/li>\n<li>Your machine <span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Host ID<\/strong><\/span> that can be found following <a href=\"https:\/\/developer9.openinventor.com\/index.php\/general-documentation\/licensing-use-open-inventor-licenses\/#NodeLockHostId\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this documentation<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nIf you need to activate a version older than <strong>10.11<\/strong> and did not receive activation codes, please go to our online password delivery center and fill in your details, Open Inventor and extensions license numbers, along with your hostID. In this case, delivered licenses are time-limited and will expire, usually after one year.<br \/>\nUpon license expiration, the application will not be able to run anymore.<br \/>\nAssuming that the subscription has been renewed, you will need to reactivate these licenses to take the updated expiration date into account.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important<\/strong>: the reactivation steps detailed below cannot be performed earlier than 14 days before your licenses expiration.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn order to reactivate your license certificate, you will need :<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: square;\">\n<li>Your machine Host ID, that can be found following <a href=\"https:\/\/developer9.openinventor.com\/index.php\/general-documentation\/licensing-use-open-inventor-licenses\/#NodeLockHostId\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this documentation<\/a>, or opening your installed certificate license file (your license server Host ID is the string following the SERVER this_host keywords)<\/li>\n<li>One of your licenses Order Line number, that can be found in your delivery email, or opening your installed certificate license file (your Order Line number is the string following the SN= keywords)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>With this information you can now proceed to the TLM portal:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Open <span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>TLM portal Reactivate menu<\/strong><\/span> by <a href=\"https:\/\/tlm-portal.com\/operations\/reactivate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clicking here<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Enter your license <span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Host ID<\/strong><\/span> and one of your licenses <span style=\"color: #EE3134;\"><strong>Order Line Number<\/strong><\/span>.
